Stuart Lynn honored with Tiger Lane Community Spirit Award

In her presentation, Sue spelled out why Stuart is deserving of the recognition.

“To have community spirit like Tiger’s you are active, you are positive, you are a visionary and you love Matagorda County and especially your small corner of it,” she said.

She went on to describe Stuart’s involvement in business and various projects in Matagorda County that are making a difference in the community. From the humble beginnings of his first company, to the renovation of a historic landmark building downtown, and his philanthropic efforts at home and abroad – Stuart “is well-known for taking on projects that aren’t just good for business, but they are good for the community above all,” she said.

“[Stuart] has been the one to step up and finish projects that had stalled, taking financial risks, not because it was the best business decision, but because someone needed to believe in the vision our community leaders have for our cities and county,” she added.

The award was created in 2019 to honor the memory of long-time MCEDC Board Member Tiger Lane.

“[Tiger] was a tireless servant to his community of Sargent and a champion of progress in Matagorda County,” said Matagorda County Judge and MCEDC Board President Nate McDonald at the time. “We seek to honor him, his service to our county and his friendship to us on the MCEDC Board of Directors with the newly minted Tiger Lane Community Spirit Award.”
